Based on a core value of creating essential garments for the new generation, WAWA is committed to use modern and more sustainable production processes that recognize both its impact and responsibility to the environment, employees and the end user.

The young and new generation’s curiosity on life is WAWA’s greatest inspiration source in designing more sustainable products. However, we acknowledge that our products will always have a certain environmental impact. Therefore, our responsibility is to constantly minimizing this as much possible, which we do by always refining the very first stage – the design phase.

In WAWA, it is a fundamental choice to design long lasting products, both in terms of style and quality.

The WAWA team value working with simplistic lines and the pure expression in hand painted prints. There is nothing called boyish or girlish in our creativity, and each collection is created with the vision of being more stylish than childish. We hope that our choices of fabric and design result in long lasting products that can be worn again and again.

Close and respectful relationships to our suppliers are vital in the development of WAWA and our products. We have decided to solely work with GOTS-certified suppliers, as this certification standard demands rigid environmental criterias on the entire manufacturing process from the raw material to the final product.

GOTS – Global Organic Textile Standard
GOTS is recognized as the world’s leading processing standard for organic textiles and fibres, and includes strict regulations about chemical use, recycling and waste management on everything from farming, harvesting, production, processing, manufacturing to packaging. It guarantees 70-95% organic fibres inside the product, coming from organic cotton, organic wool, organic linen and others. The standard also requires compliance with social criterias regarding working environment, salary, working time and child labour, and is backed by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain.

For a small company like WAWA with great values and ambitions of creating a product with as low an environmental impact as possible, GOTS certified suppliers is a good start. However, we are well aware, that we constantly need to improve our way of being creative and making our products. Our sustainability policies and efforts will be descried more compressive within short time. But for sure our sustainability engagement doesn’t stop by working with GOTS-certified suppliers. It’s just the beginning.

We know that our choice of materials has a significant social and environmental impact. With “sustainable materials” we mean materials that are non-conventional and have lower impact on both nature and human health than conventional materials. We are however consciously aware that every material, conventional or sustainable, has its own advantages and disadvantages in different perspectives. In WAWA we will do our best in choosing materials that both enables us to prolong the lifetime of our products and to support future recycling. For the best caretaking and for making your WAWA items last longer, please see our garment care.
